All Championships participants are more than welcome to stay for a couple of extra days before or/and after the event. If you prefer pedal-powered rides there is much to choose from in the area.
Nearby Vršič pass is Slovenian alpine epic for roadies but also a good starting point to some great singletrack. The tri-border between Austria, Italy and Slovenia is another local mountain bike classic and the ridge between Austria and Slovenia is offering other nice rides.
Asphalt bike lane between Kranjska Gora and Tarvisio in Italy (and beyond towns at both ends) provides a great relaxed spin ride or a safe family ride.
For lift assisted riding the Kranjska Gora park is still in the "spring mode" in June which means it is operating Friday to Sunday so that also goes for June 17th-19th. It will be closed on Monday June 20th then it is planned to be running for Championships eary birds from Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd. In case there will be just a couple of people interested in riding we can't justify running the chairlift but we will organize shuttle runs in outside the park. Same goes for Monday 20th.
From Friday 24th to Sunday 26th the park will be closed for guests. Chairlift access only for racers with DH numbers and staff.
After the Championships the park goes into "summer mode" or daily operation.

If you can find Dirt magazine issue 84 (february 2009) there is a story by Victor Lucas with riders Ben Reid, Rowan Sorell and Ralph Jones on shredding in Kranjska Gora.
